Day 1

Start your Wagga Wagga journey by paying a visit to the Wagga Wagga Visitor Information Centre, located on Tarcutta Street and open seven days. Meet the friendly staff, grab a Visitor Guide and city maps and browse The Wagga Shop for quality local produce and souvenirs.

Stretch your legs with a walk along the Wiradjuri Trail, a 42km trail looping around Wagga Wagga. Start from the Visitor Centre following the Murrumbidgee River to Riverside: Wagga Beach, ranked in the top 10 Australian beaches in 2020. Take a moment to enjoy the water views and sit and watch the world go by.

Continue along the Wiradjuri Trail to explore the boutiques of Fitzmaurice Street. Head to Knight’s Deli where the shelves are lined with artisan cheeses, cured meats, jams, honey and preserves. Explore the charm of Paper Pear, an eclectic gallery showcasing the work of regional artists, where you can take home a piece of Wagga Wagga’s creative spirit. Then, head to House of Fitzmaurice, a collaboration initiative between three local businesses, celebrating fashion, homewares and arts desires.

After a spot of shopping, stop by Mr Lawrence for a lunch date sure to impress – don't miss their signature roti tacos, or for something sweet, try their baked ricotta and berry hotcakes.

Next, immerse yourself in Wagga Wagga’s creative scene at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, featuring the best national, regional and local exhibitions and home to the National Art Glass Collection.

As the sun dips low, take a seat at Magpie’s Nest Restaurant and enjoy a Chef’s Hat awarded (2025) dining experience. Overlooking sweeping views across 20 acres of vineyard and olive groves, they offer a dining experience with a view like no other. Begin with their antipasto selection including house-made breads, olive oil, olives, house-made dips accompanied by a selection of exciting little bites of ‘this and that’. Following this you can choose from the selection of main courses and desserts. The menu, which changes regularly to take advantage of the seasonality of local farm direct produce, also caters for a variety of allergies and intolerances.

Day 2

Begin your morning with the rich aroma of freshly roasted coffee at Meccanico Espresso + Wine, a European-inspired espresso bar experience in the heart of Fitzmaurice Street. Dine outdoors in the lush courtyard or pull up a seat inside and enjoy the modern atmosphere.

Then, spend the day at Wagga Wagga’s Food I Am – an award-winning cooking school experience where you’ll prepare and enjoy fresh, regional produce in their purpose-built facility, all while taking in the stunning, elevated views of Wagga Wagga’s rolling hills. Food I Am offer a range of classes to suit all tastes and cuisines, such as Indian, Moroccan, international street food, gluten free classics, seafood and more. At the end of the class, take off your apron, grab a glass of wine and sit down with your classmates to enjoy the masterpiece you have created. Bookings are essential.

Come nightfall, head to the Civic Theatre, Wagga Wagga’s premier performing arts venue, for an evening of entertainment. Take your pick from drama, comedy, dance, music, family-friendly shows and more. Be sure to pre-book your tickets, as performances tend to sell out quickly. Before the show begins, indulge in a local produce platter, featuring a selection of gourmet bites (pre-order). Pair it with a glass of bubbles and take in the serene views of Wollundry Lagoon from the balcony. Alternatively, make your way to nearby Birdy Bar for a pre-theatre meal, where you can savour share plates of bao buns, pork belly bites, chicken wings and more, paired with a signature cocktail for the perfect start to your evening.

Day 3

Wake up to another magical morning in Wagga Wagga. Ease into the day with a visit to The Brew, a cosy cornerstore cafe where every cup and plate is crafted with care. Their seasonal menu, celebrating local producers, makes this the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before the day’s adventures unfold.

Next, take a short drive to Bidgee Strawberries and Cream where you can pick your own strawberries straight from the plant (seasonal) and sample their delicious homemade treats – jams, pastries and even a strawberry gin.

Continue your tasting journey with a wine tour and tasting experience at Borambola Wines, a boutique winery established in 1995. Led by the winery’s experienced viticulturist and owner, you’ll hear the story behind each label and sample six estate-grown wines. Don’t forget to say hello to Taco, the winery’s beloved dog. For a different pace, swap your wine glass for a yoga mat and unwind with a pop-up yoga session overlooking the picturesque vineyards. Borambola Wines is open Saturdays, Sundays and by appointment.

Experience Wagga Wagga from a whole new perspective with an In Motion Fitness sunset kayak tour (4pm - 7pm). Follow the meandering Murrumbidgee River, feel the eucalypt breeze and hear the ancient birdsong. The Beginners Guided Sunset Kayak Tour is designed for all skill levels, requiring no prior experience—just a sense of adventure.

After an evening on the water, step beneath the city’s main street to Wagga Wagga’s underground cocktail lounge, Bar Olivette - a 1920’s inspired speakeasy with an intimate ambiance and unique cocktails – and toast to another unforgettable day in Wagga Wagga.

Day 4

Savour your final morning in Wagga Wagga with a freshly baked pastry and brewed coffee to go from The Artisan Baker, Wagga Wagga’s authentic French patisserie. With the aroma of freshly baked croissants and crusty baguettes filling the air, this little slice of France is the perfect place to indulge in a flaky pain au chocolat or a blueberry danish before setting off.

Before departing, take a leisurely stroll through the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens, a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. Wander through 22-acres of themed gardens showcasing camellias, cacti and succulents, proteas, Australian natives and roses. The Botanic Gardens is also home to the Wagga Wagga Zoo & Aviary, showcasing more than 90 species of native and exotic animals and birds including camels, dingoes, emus and reptiles. Stunning peacocks roam freely within the zoo grounds.

Within the Botanic Gardens precinct, the Museum of the Riverina blends past and present together to share the stories of this place and its people. With exhibitions highlighting Wiradjuri stories, local sporting legends, Wagga Wagga at war, life on the Murrumbidgee River and more, the museum provides a deeper appreciation for Wagga Wagga’s unique character. Please note: The Museum of the Riverina is closed on Mondays, so plan your visit accordingly.
