Waggaroos Orienteering Summer Series and Winter Series

Waggaroos of all ages enjoying the sport Waggaroos is an orienteering club with regular local events in bush and urban environments.

During the summer months the Club focuses on urban/street events in Wagga Wagga. Events are generally in the format of either a score event using the MapRun app on your mobile phone or a score event where runners nominate a course time of either 30 minutes or 45 minutes during which time the competitor attempts to find as many controls as possible in any order using a hard copy map.

During the cooler months, its focus is on bush events on maps located in and around Wagga and some that are 45 minutes drive from Wagga.

Orienteering is a sport that combines outdoor adventure with map reading and navigational skills. It involves navigating through the bush, parks, or streets with the aid of a specially produced map and an orienteering compass, with the aim being to locate checkpoints (controls) on various natural and man-made features along the way, such as a boulder, track junction, bench seat or streetlamp.

New members are welcomed at all events with courses for all levels of experience will be available for all members of the family to enjoy.
