We're for families
There’s all sorts of family adventures in our region, from exploring the outdoors to hands-on workshops disguised as fun. There’s also plenty of places for the whole crew to stay and dine at.
Outdoor discoveries
Wagga Wagga's parks and gardens are brimming with space to roam and plenty of things to play and climb on. Popular spots include the Victory Memorial Gardens, Collins Park and the Livvi’s Place all-abilities playground. The iconic Botanic Gardens has an adventure playground, a zoo and aviary where you can get up close with cuddly creatures. There’s also a ride-on miniature railway that weaves through woodlands, gardens and passes through a tunnel (departs every first and third Sundays of the month).
Looking for more adventure? Why not wander down to the water and explore Riverside: Wagga Beach or Marrambidya Wetland (pictured). Wagga Beach is great for family picnics and water play during the warmer months (don’t forget your life vests), while the wetland lets your explore native wildlife and Wiradjuri culture. While you’re down this end of the city, be sure to head to Bidgee Strawberries and Cream where the kids can pick and feast on fresh fruit (open seasonally from October to April).
Indoor fun
Take the kids for a splash at the Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre, which features indoor and outdoor pools for year-round fun. For a change of pace, the Forum 6 Cinema and the Civic Theatre are great options for kid-friendly movies and live shows.
Let them get hands on or learn something new at Food I Am culinary school, Belisi Wellbeing & Equestrian Centre or Ashculme Textiles (pictured). All offering a mix of fun and unique workshops, on offer throughout the year, including during school holidays.
Did we forget to mention the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory is just a short drive away? Let the kids explore this chocolate emporium, make their own giant chocolate freckle, learn about the organic licorice and chocolate making process, and for the adults, don’t forget to stock up on your favourite sweet treats to take with you.
