The City of Wagga Wagga has partnered with the Riverina Community College to make available a range of accredited and non-accredited courses. Choose from a range of accredited courses, including Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), Food preparation and Presentation, Basic Barista skills and Behind the Bar operations.
This series offers practical opportunities to invest in skills that directly impact customer experience and business success.

COURSES ON OFFER
Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol - SITHFAB021
Monday 6 July 9.30am to 4.30pm
The successful completion of the RSA training will enable student to apply for a Liquor and Gaming NSW Competency Card (valid in NSW for 5 years).
Provide Service to Customers (non-accredited)
Tuesday 4 August 9am - 3.30pm

Food Preparation and Presentation (non-accredited)

Learning the importance of plate structure, colour and contrast, height and texture, garnishes, plate choice, and cleanliness is vital when working in Hospitality. Jessica will share her knowledge and passion with students in an engaging and practical delivery environment.
Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety - SITXFSA005
Monday 7 September 9am to 3.30pm
Applies to food handlers who directly handle food in daily work activities. Covers:
* Personal hygiene practices
* Contamination & cross-contamination
* Cleaning vs sanitising, time/temperature control
* Allergen awareness
* Reporting
* Following procedures
Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices (Food Safety Supervisor) - SITXFSA006
Monday 14 September 9am to 3.30pm
Safe food handling practices are based on an organisation’s food safety program (typically HACCP). Applies to food handlers such as cooks, chefs, caterers, kitchen hands and F&B attendants, aligns to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.

Basic Barista – non accredited
Monday 21 September 9am to 3.30pm
Delivered by industry expert, Jessica Webster, students are given a fresh appreciation for barista skills. Jess has a wonderful knowledge on coffee beans, differences in milk, and being able to deliver variations of coffee orders.
Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages - SITHFAB24
Monday 19 October 9am to 3.30pm
Several outcomes of this unit:
* Selection of ingredients
* Prepare beverages using appropriate methods and standard recipes to meet customer requests
* Ensure correct and consistent strength, taste, temperature and appearance for each beverage prepared
* Present beverages attractively in appropriate crockery or glassware with accompaniments and garnishes according to organisational procedures.
Behind the Bar – non accredited
Monday 9 November 9.30am to 3.30pm
A practical, hands-on course designed to build confidence and competence in bar service environments. Participants learn essential skills including correctly pouring beer, mixing classic drinks, and preparing popular cocktails, with a strong emphasis on consistency, presentation, and efficiency.
The course also covers bar set-up, equipment use, and responsible service practices, alongside high-quality customer service skills such as engaging with patrons, taking orders, and managing a busy bar environment. Ideal for those new to bar work or looking to refine their skills, Behind the Bar provides real-world training that can be applied immediately in hospitality and agritourism settings.
