The hunt is on for a community group or organisation to take the lead on Wagga Wagga’s 2019 New Year’s Eve celebrations.
If you think you can help Wagga Wagga say good-bye to 2019 by bringing the good-vibes in the form of a festival, concert or precinct party, then now is your time to shine.
You could be responsible for Wagga Wagga’s Best. New Years. Ever!
Funding of up to $50,000 is available to plan and host a community-focused New Year’s Eve event with a wide audience appeal in the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area.
Applications are open now and can be submitted until 17 May 2019.
Who can apply?
Proposals will be accepted from community groups, organisations, business owners and individuals.
You are welcome to submit a proposal for a different type of event to past New Year’s Eve events held in Wagga Wagga as long as it meets the criteria. You will have flexibility in how you run and promote the event and you will be able to nominate your choice of venue.
The City has hosted New Year’s Eve events for the past seven years at both Lake Albert and the Wollundry Precinct with over 10,000 members of the community attending each year. This is great exposure for interested businesses to generate brand awareness or for community groups to come together and raise funds for their clubs.
Organisers have the opportunity to raise funds through stallholders, business sponsorship and potential ticket income through VIP areas.
Allocation of funds
The allocation of funding is at the discretion of the assessment panel based on the budget you submit with your proposal.
Council will commit up to two years funding towards the New Year’s Eve event, from 2019/20. Annual reporting on event outcomes, budget and the next year's business and marketing plans are required prior to release of funds for the following year’s event.
The event should achieve one or more of the following:
- Encourage participation from the community
- Showcase local entertainers and/or vendors, and
- Celebrate New Year’s Eve
In addition the applicant should provide details of:
- The type of event and proposal e.g. festival, stallholders, concert
- The event plan including time, venue, event timetable
- Event budget estimate and resourcing/management capacity of the applicant
Evaluation of the proposal
Eligible proposals will be assessed against how well the event aligns with the assessment criteria. All applications will be acknowledged and applicants will be advised of the outcome in July 2019.
