ADFAS Lecture - Tom Duncan speaking about Patrons of the Arts as Deadly Rivals

Collectiing 21st century
Charles I created a court where architecture, painting and the visual arts received unprecedented encouragement from and English king. He deliberately set out to create a rival to the great courts of Europe and this led to great rivalries within the English noble families led by the Duke of Buckingham and the Earl of Arundel. This lecture will explore this interesting period for the Arts. Supper to follow in the Art Gallery, included in the price.
