While running around the farm in Mangoplah, Ginny Stevens found herself wondering why we make sure our cars and machinery are fueled and serviced properly, but don’t take the same approach to our physical and mental health.
Through Active Farmers, Ginny helps her network tackle the stresses of modern farming life with a focus on their wellbeing.
She spends her time in the region’s farming communities and knows the perfect ways to unwind, refocus and recharge.
Ginny shares her favourite wide open spaces to explore, walking tracks and parks to stroll around and the best place to press pause with a cuppa.
1 ) Trail Street Coffee Shop [pictured below] – “The best coffee in town and one of the best places to sit down and focus on enjoying working on Active Farmers.”
2.) Wiradjuri Walking Track and bush tracks around Wagga Wagga - “I love running off road and through nice scenery, and the walking track by Wagga Beach at Riverside and bush tracks through Pomingalarna or Birramal are perfect for this. Getting back to nature is very therapeutic and enjoyable.”
3) Collins Park – “This is such a lovely park in the heart of the city. Group or individual yoga sessions here are a great way to relax and unwind.”
4) Grab n go health food – “Busy days around Wagga Wagga sometimes lend themselves to grabbing healthy and delicious food from one of the city’s organic food delis or cafes for a quick, wholesome lunch on the go.”
5) Botanic Gardens Zoo and Aviary - “This is always a family favourite spot, and it’s completely free.”
6) Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre – “One of my favourite things to do during the summer is swim laps in the outdoor pool at Oasis.”
